My name is Nyla Brewster and I am from Boston, Massachusetts, but I most recently have lived in Hawaii during the beginning of the Coronavirus Pandemic. I am currently a junior at Harvard College studying Social Studies and Computer Science.
At Physis, I work as a business strategist. My day to day responsibilities range anywhere from product design to building connections with our investors. I specialize in answering the hard questions and acting as our key problem solver.
My favorite part about Physis is getting to meet people from all across the world interested in sustainable finance. As our founder is from Italy, we have many connections in Europe along with the US. We are based in Boston, which is an incredibly great place to meet lots of different people with different areas of expertise all working towards one common goal.
To me, impact investing means investing with goals not simply limited to your own financial benefit. It involves being mindful of the effects of where you place your money, and involving sustainability at every step of the way.
The exciting part about sustainability is that it is largely reliant on a collective, rather than any one person working in isolation. Sustainability is something that benefits everyone, and is a necessity for the future of our country.
First, I would bring a knife, as it will be useful in creating a shelter, finding food, building things, etc. Second, I would bring a flare or signaling tool of sorts so I could get off of said deserted island. Lastly, I would bring a very long book, as I am sure I will need something to pass the time.
One of my favorite quotes, by Albert Einstein, is “Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.”
