    • The RE100 initiative is part of a global movement for companies to play a larger in the fight against climate change
    • In addition to pledging, General Mills has invested in clean energy projects worldwide

The General Mills brand, world-famous for its cereals, has made an amazing announcement. General Mills has set a goal to use 100% renewable energy by 2030. This is apart of a global initiative by corporations to do their part, in regards to climate change.

    The RE100 Initiative

The RE100 Initiative is one where companies pledge to move towards 100% renewable electricity use. The initiative includes some of the world’s largest companies. Other companies include Allianz, Adobe, Barclays, and Chanel. In addition to using clean energy, the initiative puts its best foot forward, in regards to intertwining renewable energy and corporations. RE100 also has efforts in place to bring together more members, set the bar for corporate leadership, and eliminating market barriers impeding renewable energy use.

    Action Across the Globe

General Mills has also begun working on renewable energy infrastructure projects. They recently invested in two wind farms located in North Texas. Anaerobic digestion is also on their radar. This type of biogas harnesses methane emitted form waste. This is turned into electricity. General Mills energy power plants in Tennessee, Brazil, and France utilize this biogas.

Companies worldwide need to play a larger role in the fight against climate change. General Mills is setting an example by taking a huge step in the right direction. Other companies should take notice and act as well! Join Physis today and make a difference!
