    By joining forces, you win

The climate is changing, and businesses and households alike have a role to play. More than one-third of the planet wide pollution is caused by just 20 fossil fuel companies, according to The Guardian. While oil companies control a large portion of emissions, making changes at individual level can still make a positive impact. By joining forces we have the power to change. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the average American spends 93% of their life indoors, so why not start making small but important environmental changes in our homes?

Small changes that make your house more sustainable

Sustainable homes are different because they use low-impact and high-performance materials or simple daily practices that can improve the environment. Because high-quality materials and systems break less and last longer, they create less waste. Energy can be saved by replacing traditional light bulbs with more efficient compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) or light-emitting diode bulbs (LEDs) that use 25-80% less electricity and last 3 to 25 times longer than traditional bulbs. Installing energy-efficient windows can be another solution, low e-coatings can reduce a heating bill by 10-25%.

Using less single-use plastic products is another way to create less waste. Reusable grocery bags, rechargeable batteries, and replacing plastic straws with metal, silicone, or bamboo ones can limit the amount of plastic that ends up in landfills. Beyond reusable products, air quality in homes can be improved through potted plants, a good-looking solution that is also very effective for indoor air cleaning.
